The Occult Series is a combination of four projects: The Agents of Sin, The Agents of Virtue, Lycans, and Vampires. Each faction contains seven military spec-ops soldier pairs which fills a specific role in their squad. The Sins partner with Demons, Virtues with Angels, Vampires with Stalker form Vampires, and the Lycans with a transformed Lycan.
Each faction is an exploration into different occult horror tropes that examine the different characteristics of each faction identifying strengths, weaknesses, and themes. Each character is designed to fill their role using their unique traits and abilities.
The Agents of Sin was the first group of characters created in The Occult Series. The creation of the art and formation of the series was initially not planned. Beginning with the idea of a fire imp partnering with a spec ops soldier, the idea quickly developed from there. Eventually the Seven Deadly Sins would become the cornerstone of the project , setting the stage for the follwing three series.
Each Sin is associated with a certain type of behavior and/or idea which can then be associated with a character class. Each of these classes functions differently requiring unique strategies, equipment, costuming, and considerations. By identifying each of these items a list was formed of traits, characteristics, ideas, motives, and themes that could be utilized to create a roster of characters.
Upon completion the project included 28 pieces and expanded to include 3 spinoff series: Augur Worms, Shikigami, and Rougarou. More information about each character is available in the Occult Series Ebook.
