Project: InfernoType: PersonalDate: 2021Description:
The year is 2156 and the heart of the Pacific North West is ablaze. Fires have raged throughout the dense pine forests of the region endangering humans, animals, and property. Registering as one of the hottest summers to date, on top of the raging fires, the area has been hit with a brutal drought season spanning nearly a decade. With no end in sight, the fires have gradually begun to encroach on remote towns, small cities, and some major urban centers triggering mass evacuations leading to a refugee crisis and large scale property damage to businesses and private individuals alike.

Firefighting teams have been conscripted from across the country and around the world to help combat the myriad spreading fires. Small teams have been reported using advanced drone technology in the form of animal drones. These experimental drones are built and designed to mimic the appearance/behaviors of the animals they represent but modified to function in a firefighting capacity.
For example, Boar drones are designed to dig fire breaks and expose buried embers or burning tree roots. Working in a group, a team of boars is capable of covering large swaths of land or reach difficult/dangerous locations.

On the other hand, Bear drones are considerably larger than Boars. Their strength and size makes them perfect for clearing large brush, felling trees, and hauling equipment to remote areas.

Each drone is paired with an operator that synergizes with them. By working together these small teams are capable of covering more ground than a standard firefighting team.

The addition of animal drone technology has helped slow the spreading inferno, but only time will tell if their inclusion prove to be effective.

Like the mini-projects from the Occult Series, Inferno is a spinoff of the Big Five series; using the same themes and ideas in a new context.
